What to Expect

What to Expect for Your Appointment

New office guidelines:

  • Patients are asked to check in for their appointment over the phone and wait in their vehicles until we call you when our technician is ready.
  • Face coverings/masks are recommended in our office. Please bring your own.
  • Your will be asked to clean your hands upon arrival in our clinic.
  • We cannot have extra visitors in the office, so if you are able, please have only the patient attend their appointment.
  • Patients will be asked screening questions when you call to check in. Please answer honestly as we need to protect our staff, physician and other patients. We will rebook your appointment if you have any concerns.
  • Our office has increased our already-aggressive cleaning and disinfection procedures.
  • Our staff may look a bit different now as we will all be wearing masks, goggles, and gloves for the duration of your appointment.

For all appointments:

  • Please bring an updated list of your current medications.
  • Please bring your usual corrective eyewear, contact lenses and glasses.
  • Please understand that your appointment is expected to last at least two hours.
  • Please allow three hours between appointments if you have another appointment to keep.
  • Not all services are covered by the Alberta Health Care Plan and patients may be required to pay privately for an eye test or procedure.
  • If you are a diabetic, bring a snack to your visit to help prevent your blood sugar from falling below a normal level.
  • Bring sunglasses to wear at the end of the appointment, for your comfort.
  • It is recommended that you bring a driver with you to your appointment, or to arrange for transportation after your visit. There are a few reasons for this, such as when the pupils are dilated, the effect can last up to 6 hours or more. Also, some office procedures may be performed on your eye(s) at this visit.
  • We ask that you do not wear makeup for all appointments.
  • Our office has a very strict no show policy. We require a minimum of 24 hours notice for all cancellations or rescheduling, to avoid cancellation or rebooking fees.
  • If you do not attend your appointment, we will be unable to reschedule and will need a referral to another Ophthalmologist.

For new patients, please print and complete this form and bring it to your appointment.
